Additional Exchange Points added in Nairobi and Kampala by SEACOM

In a move to enhance African users experience on the internet, SEACOM a pan-African telecom enabler and network provider has set up additional Internet Exchange Points in Nairobi, Kenya, and Kampala, Uganda.

These two exchange points add to its peering agreements in Africa. Geared at improving internet connection performance and reduce inactivity users tend to experience while connecting to web services in Europe and across the continent.

Mark Tinka, the Head of Engineering at SEACOM said, “We continue to invest in enhancing the internet experience for our customers, whether they are connecting with services and content in Africa or the rest of the world.”

Currently, SEACOM boosts of Point of Presence (PoPs) in five busiest centers in Europe as far as internet traffic is concerned. The centers are Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Marseille, and Stockholm; with Marseille being the key landing point for most marine cables from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East coming to Europe.

Also given the bigger percentage of Africa’s international internet traffic goes through Europe, SEACOM is anticipating and strategically positioning itself as the best enabler and network provider for Africa’s growing internet users.
