Siemens Stiftung, a global foundation operating in the fields of basic education, service and culture has announced the opening of application for its ‘Empowering People Award 2015. A competition geared at identifying innovative technical solutions that seek to address some the challenges faced globally in basic supply.
This contest looks at low-tech innovation within the following eight categories: Water & Waste Water, Waste Management, Sheltering, Healthcare, Food & Agriculture, Energy, Sheltering and Information & Communication.
Rolf Huber, the Managing Director of Siemens Stiftung, said, “The goal of the contest is ultimately to empower people in developing regions to have access to basic services for their daily needs. We want to locate creative solutions, and we are eager to work with innovative teams to bring their solutions to the lives of those who need them most.”
Inventors and developers are encouraged to submit their applications. Their entries will be assessed by an interdisciplinary and multicultural jury. First place, second place, and third place winners will be awarded EUR50,000, EUR30,000, and EUR20,000 respectively.
