Facebook poached Peggy Alford from PayPal; she’ll become first Black woman on Fb’s Board

The Senior Vice President, core markets at PayPal, Peggy Alford, is set to join Facebook’s board of directors. History will be broken, as Alford will become the first Black woman to sit on Facebook’s board.

It appears, Alford also has the backing of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who in a press release said: “Peggy is one of those rare people who’s an expert across many different areas – from business management to finance operations to product development. I know she will have great ideas that help us address both the opportunities and challenges facing our company.”

Peggy has also served as the head of operations for the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative; a philanthropic program founded by Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan. she is also a Silicon Valley veteran, having worked for various companies including Rent.com and eBay.

Peggy holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from the University of Dayton in Ohio.
