It has been 19 years since rapper Christopher Wallace, AKA Biggie Smalls was killed in a drive-by shooting on the streets of Los Angeles on Mar. 9, 1997. At the time, he was 24-years old. Dedicated fans are blowing up Twitter and celebrating the rapper’s work and inspiration.

Entertainment Weekly says that rapper Lil Kim released a new album called “I did it for Brooklyn,” in honor of Biggie’s legacy. She says she was his biggest fan.

“He became my friend, my lover, my everything,” Kim tells EW.

In 1995, Lil Kim joined Biggie’s Junior Mafia Crew. He told Kim that she would be a great female artist, seeing potential in her. She also goes on to tell EW, that she inspired Biggie to do things different and that they were “a match made in heaven.”
