Chinese electronics giant Huawei has opened a new training center at its regional headquarters office in Nairobi. The center will provide training on next-generation computing, and telecommunication services among other technologies.
The Head of Learning Services at Huawei Technologies East Africa, Peter Thus said the center would be a hub for training East Africans technology matters like 4G, cloud computing, IoT, and Software Defined Networks (SDN)/Network Functions Virtualization (NFV).
Thuo said, “It aims to build ICT skills amongst employees and key players in the ICT ecosystem in the region in order to drive the ICT industry and the country’s digital transformation, as well as enhance Kenya’s leading role in East Africa.”
Some of the facilities users will get at the Huawei center include video conferencing room and high-speed broadband connection. The center will also be accessible to students who want to learn from the e-labs.
“Building ICT skills for our youth is very crucial to the success of the country’s economic transformation agenda,” said John Tanui, an Engineer working for the Konza Technologies Development Authority (KoTDA).
