No other generation in human history has been staring at the screen than the current generation. We do so when at the bus, behind the wheel while driving, in our offices while working, at home even when in the bed. So much so that it has necessitated the development of dark mode to make things a little bit easier on our eyes and general health.

Dark mode is now the in thing for software developers; looking at the marketing Apple is doing for macOS Mojave, one would think that’s the only featured to look forward to with the latest Mac OS X.

The social media giant Facebook is also on the dark mode club; it has to, given it is probably guilty of keeping a lot of people glued to their smartphone screen till late in the night while in their beds. In this article, we are going to show you how to activate dark mode on Facebook Messenger.

On your mobile device, launch the Messenger app, tap on your profile picture to open the settings tab. You can now toggle on the dark mode switch. Just like …read more

They say to keep things interesting in a relationship, the couple should be trying new things every now and then. You know, to spice up things. You could change positions in bed, decided to eat out, and (well, I don’t know) go for a DNA test.

Well, there is this young couple that decided to go for the latter just for “fun”. However, when the test results from Ancenstry.com came back, what they discovered shuttered their relationship. Someone called it quits.

The woman (27-years-old) was excited to share her results with her partner after finding some pretty interesting information about her ancenstry. Then it was the man’s (26-years-old) to share his results.

What the man shared would break up the couple in the months to come. As the Mirror puts it, the man took to Reddit to share the information that his girlfriend broke up with him over their DNA results.

He says the results unearthed a well-kept family secret even he didn’t know about, and something his girlfriend cannot get over.

In the Reddit, the man explains: “A month ago, my girlfriend and I thought it …read more

In a few decades, man could connect his brain directly to the internet

Forget about the Internet of Things, and think of Internet of Thoughts. You want to do research on socio-economic factors that propelled the agriculture revolution in Mesopotamia. All you do is sit down and deep in your mind dive through scholarly articles on web pages on the internet.

Instead of remembering something (cramming) you simply download that information from your cloud account. You want to talk to family or friend in a far distance, you won’t need Skype, Hangout, or Messenger video call. Simply dial them up in your brain, and they will receive the video call in their brain from wherever they at.

These will be all thanks to nanorobots, which could be positioned inside the human brain and transmit the information to and from the internet. Though it now sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie, a team of scientists is claiming that in a few decades. They will be able to take the human race there.

The scientists propose the use of neural nanorobots that could be implanted into the human body and connect to the internet in real-time.

These devices would navigate the human …read more

Dropbox has been the top choice cloud storage platform for so many people over a long time. So much so, that as we Kenyans say, it has grown horns. That is, it has reached a point where it feels it can do whatever it want, and tomorrow you will still come back.

Well, guess what! There are alternatives; free alternatives. But before we get into that, let me remind you of the Dropbox disappointment. These days it limits you to just three syncing devices at one time. If you want it to sync on more than three devices at one time, you will need to part with money.

Unless of course, you turn to its alternatives; Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and Apple iCloud. There are the best free alternatives for Dropbox. Well, sort of!

Free 15GB on Google Drive

Chances are high you use Gmail email, and that means you are automatically assigned 15GB free storage by Google on its cloud storage Google Drive. The platform is well engineered and works seamlessly. Compared to the 2GB free storage you get with Dropbox, Google Drive sure seems …read more

KFCB bans #Takataka song and makes it ever more popular

Reading the local dailies in Kenya, one would think Kenyan men don’t know how to handle rejection or settle disputes with the ladies they are courting. It is unfortunate that a number of ladies have been killed, some seriously battered and fighting for their lives in hospital with the perpetrators being a man.

So the body mandated by the constitution to check and regulate films (which includes movies, music videos) the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has resorted to banning a local song, which it claims encourages violence against women.

As KFCB puts it, “The song … is characterized by crude language that objectifies women and glorifies hurting them as a normal reaction to rejection. In line with the Board’s Classification Guidelines, which forms the basis of approving or denying approval of film content, the named song has obvious elements of incitement to violence against women by using repetitious emotional phrases and misrepresented facts.”

By banning the song KFCB has made it more popular

Today, the board issued a press statement letting the public know that the song has been banned. However, if you look at what is trending …read more
