Microsoft has set the date for Internet Explorer 10 euthanization to January 2020

Looks like folks over at Redmond are too happy euthanizing old stuff. First Microsoft announced it will end support for Windows 7 comes 2020, then Windows 10 Mobile at the end of this year, and now more recently. Microsoft announces it will end support for Internet Explorer 10 (IE10) come Jan 2020.

Microsoft first released IE10 back in 2012, but in 2016, it introduced a new browser Edge with the release of Windows 10. Ever since then, IE10 has seemed like an afterthought in all of Microsoft campaigns to woe users from alternative browsers.

You will have until January 2020 to complete the transition from Internet Explorer 10 (IE10) to IE11. After this, we will not release any security or non-security updates, free or paid assisted support options, or online technical content changes for IE10,” wrote Microsoft in a blog post.

In 2016, Microsoft shifted its focus from IE10 to IE11 and Edge browsers. That led to IE10 not being supported by every of the major operating systems; though Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8 Embedded continued to support it. However, that …read more
