Back in April 2015 we ran an article with stats from the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) that reported there were 80 million mobile internet users in Nigeria. By the end of August 2015, NCC released another report putting the figure of mobile internet users in Nigeria at 95.37 million.
The latest figures from the NCC as at September 30th puts the numbers of mobile internet users in Nigeria at 97.21 million. The NCC report shows a significant growth in the GSM and CDMA by 1.84 million users in the month of September alone.
NCC further reveals that 97.06 million users were on GSM networks while CDMA number of users’ figures stood at 151,816. It has also emerged that CDMA operators have lost about 367 internet users, given in August the figure stood at 152,183.
The lion share of subscribers using the mobile Internet users is the MTN network, which recorded 423,448 mobile internet users over the month of September. In August, MTN mobile internet users figure stood at 41.41 million, while Globacom recorded 21.89 million mobile internet users on its network as at September 2015. In …read more
