Chinese tech giant, Huawei Technologies has given nine lucky engineering and ICT students from Kenya public universities. A two-week training in Shenzhen, Guangdong, for skills exchange purposes.

As a part of an agreement Huawei signed with the Kenya ministry of ICT back in 2014. An agreement that will see Kenyans get skilled and professionally trained human capital in telecommunication technology leveraging on Huawei experience and resources.

“The industry has changed drastically over the past five years with the developments such as the internet of things and cloud technologies,” said Dean Yu, the CEO of Huawei Kenya.
“With this deliberate engagement to support the Kenyan youth, who today form the majority of the Kenyan population, is a sustainable effort to ensure that the future of Kenya is in capable hands.”
His counterpart, the ICT Permanent Secretary, Victor Kyalo added, “working with the private sector is a deliberate move intended to increase productivity.”
