The livestreaming social app by Twitter, Periscope first debut in March 2015. This month, the app marked its first year anniversary with a lot of success stories to boast about.
In its first year, Periscope has seen over 200 million user-generated broadcasts. On an average, there is about 110 years’ worth of live content being watched on Periscope by users daily. That is hardly surprising given by August 2015, (five months after inception), the app already was cultivating 40 years of live video being watch daily.
Apparently, people on the Internet are infatuated with live content. Otherwise, Periscope and the likes would not be such a huge hit. Desktop sites like Twitch and YouTube Gaming were the pioneers of user-generated livestreaming services to fellow millions of users. While mobile apps like Periscope were the pioneers of livestreaming on social networks.
