Piriform, has had its long running good reputation damaged when it was revealed by security expert that CCcleaner – a popular program for cleaning temporary files and removing unwanted data from Windows systems – had a compromised security. Well the company has released a new version of the program, CCleaner 5.46, which they promise will make right all the wrongs that bedeviled the previous versions.
Piriform has introduced a new privacy page in May in the CCleaner program. In the page, the company goes to pain in explaining how a user can disable collection of data, which the company has been using for analytical purposes among other users.
However, there was some confusion over the new privacy option for freemium users, since there was no option of selecting. All the options were selected by default, and the privacy page explains that free users will not have the ability to disable collection of anonymous data for as long as they choose to use the app.
