East Africa’s giant telecom, Safaricom has made partnered with Vuclip, a premium Video On Demand (VOD) service provider in emerging markets in offering Kenyan subscribers under the telecom’s network premium VOD content on their smartphones.
Safaricom will charge subscribers Ksh.10 ($0.10) per day to access up to 100 videos on Vuclip. Safaricom and Vuclip have partnered to launch a Premium Video Store that has catalogued gospel music, comedy videos, TV shows, movies from both the Kenyan local content, to Nigeria’s Nollywood and the USA’s Hollywood.
Kenyans on the Safaricom network can access the Vuclip videos by either dialing *822# or visiting www.videos.safaricom.com while on their Safaricom line and connected via the Safaricom mobile connection.
The first time a user tries that link, he will be required to provide their Safaricom number and a link will be sent to their phone via a text message. When you follow that link and click on subscribe, you will have access to 100 videos per day on your mobile phone. Good luck trying to finish all of them!
