Telecommunication service provider Smile, has announced two first-to-market services to its subscribers; the SmileVoice and SmileUnlimited.
Smile operates a 4G LTE mobile broadband network in Nigeria at 800MHz band and 2.6GHz bands in Uganda and Tanzania. Back in Sept 2015, Smile announced it was raising $365 million of debt and equity funding.
The first tranche of these funding went towards expanding Smile’s current 4G LTE mobile broadband networks. The telecom’s network coverage has grown to become comparable to the largest 3G network in Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda. Smile is also planning on extending its coverage into DRC.
Irene Charnley, Smile Group’s Chief Executive Officer, stated: “With the introduction of SmileVoice and SmileUnlimited, we are once again demonstrating our commitment to the advancement of the people of Africa.
