When you think about the smartphone brand that could have sold the most this year. Chances are, you are going to be thinking along the line of the likes of Google Pixel, Samsung, OnePlus 3T, and the LG V20. Other brands like the Sony Xperia XZ will not be anywhere near your first line of thoughts.
Well, guess what, Sony Xperia XZ was the most popular flagship smartphone of the second half of 2016. A title earned after the misfortunes that befell the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 with the exploding battery saga. Here is an irony, although the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has been recalled and no longer in supply into the market. There is still more Galaxy Note 7 users than there are users of the LG V20, HTC 10 Evo (Bolt), and the OnePlus 3T.
Now back to the Xperia XZ, according to research done by Aptelligent shows the phone popularity started picking up once the Note 7 was hit by one controversy after the other. As Note 7 popularity graph took a nose-dive, almost at the same time, the Xperia XZ graph started climbing.
