Canada began illuminating parts of the Niagara Falls in 1860, as a celebration of Prince of Wales visit to the country. That was when the tradition of lighting up nature’s work of art began and has remained so up to now.
However, the lighting technology used was traditional and inefficient; in terms of the appeal of the light and energy consumption. They have now changed the light bulbs at the Niagara Falls and fitted the new technology LED lighting system.
The night Niagara Falls Illumination has now become an even greater sight to marvel at; when night came and the lights turned on. People on the Canadian side of the falls were smitten by the illumination.
“Oh, I love the blue. The blue is beautiful, the color,” one visitor was quoted saying.
At night, the Niagara Falls turns into an illumination of a dazzling rainbow of colors stretching for almost half a mile away on the Canadian side.
