The Father of Android launches the new Essential Phone

For a while now the rumor mills have been churning out news that Andy Rubin – Android co-creator – is working on starting his own company, and is in the process of launching a new smartphone. Well, the rumors were true, and Rubin has launched the Essential Phone.

Rubin designed the phone from the ground-up and released it on May 30th. The phone comes with 5.71-inch QHD (2560*1323) display. The screen runs from edge-to-edge with an aspect ratio of 19:10. The chassis of the phone is a Titanium frame, with a ceramic back and a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 screen.

Under the hood, the Essential Phone is powered by a Snapdragon 835 chip, backed with 4GB RAM and 128GB ROM with UFS 2.1 technology. The device is juiced up by a 3040mAh battery. The phone comes with Dual Camera set up with an 8MP front camera capable of 4K video recording and a 13MP rear camera with one RGB and one Monochrome.
