A little less than a month ago, WhatsApp released a new feature on the beta channel that enabled users to share just about any type of file format on the instant messaging app. That in addition to expansion of the size limits.
It appears the company has ironed out all kinds on the feature, and is now rolling it to every user; all 1.2 billion of us. Right now, if you are running the latest version of the app, you can share any type of file format with your contact. That applies to one-on-one chats and group chats.
Previously, you could only send office documents via WhatsApp; files like .docx, .xlsx, pdf, and .JPEG. There were other considerable type of file formats you could not send using the messaging app. With the latest version, you can even send .mkv, xml, and .zip among others.
This new feature is will be especially helpful to forks that frequently collaborate on tasks from various remote locations. Well, there’s Google, Microsoft, and Apple cloud tools for that, but there’s only so much files you can work on together via the cloud. …read more
