The five international football (soccer) players who hail from Africa and made it to the 2017 BBC African Footballer of the year are:

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Naby Keita

Sadio Mane

Victor Moses

Mohamed Salah

The five-man shortlist was revealed on a special live broadcast by the BBC from London. The nominees were discussed by a panelist that included Cameroon’s 2017 African Cup of Nations winner Arnaud Djoum, Nigeria’s 1996 Olympic football champion Emmanuel Amuneke, and Uganda’ national team and Crystal Palace ladies squad Jean Sseninde.

Votings are now open, and fans can vote for their favorite footballer out of this list of five. The player with the most votes will be crowned the BBC African Footballer of the Year 2017 on Monday, December 11, 2017. The live announcement will be made on the BBC World TV and BBC Service Ration from 17:35 GMT. The BBC Africa and BBC Sports websites will also carry the news.

Gabon and Borussia Dortmund striker Aubameyang is appearing on this list for the fifth time in a row. This is the third nomination to this list for the Senegalese and Liverpool’s star Mane. As for the rest of the …read more
